Optimizing the Performance of the Criminal Unit to Increase the Number of Settlements of Theft Cases at Polresta Magelang
Abstract
Polri is required to be able to handle a variety of issues that could endanger public order and security in particular. They must also be able to maintain the law and serve the community with justice, particularly in cases involving theft crimes The performance of the Criminal Investigation Unit is not yet at its best, which presents a challenge for this final project's goal of increasing the number of theft settlement cases at the Polresta Magelang. Criminal Investigation Unit of Polresta Magelang has implemented investigations in order to handle theft crimes and enhance the number of cases that are successfully addressed. According to the Principles used, specifically the Decree of the Governor of the Police Academy Number: Kep/153/X/HUK/4.5/2021 dated 13 October 2021 concerning Guidelines Police Academy Cadets Scientific Research, the research methods and approaches to be used, sources of information to be used, along with data collection and analysis techniques, are decided. This research was conducted using a qualitative approach method. The type of research used in this research is action research. The Research is being conducted in the Polresta Magelang, specifically in the division's Criminal Investigation Unit, located at 88 Jalan Soekarno Hatta in Mungkid City, Magelang Regency. Data collection techniques used are interviews, observation and document study. The research results show that The performance of investigators/assisting investigators in carrying out investigations is still not optimal because several indicators analyzed from competency theory still have some drawbacks, namely the number of personnel who have attended Dikbangspes Research is very small, besides that the number of members who have obtained a Bachelor of Laws is also very small.
