Utilization of Instagram Social Media as a Public Education Tool to Improve Traffic Security
Abstract
In the Police 4.0 era, where the development of information technology-based Polri services is increasingly massive and the development of superior Polri human resources who are able to adapt amidst the industrial revolution 4.0, presents a new reality for the Police. Police 4.0 is one thing that has inspired the National Police to continue serving, especially traffic officers. By making massive use of information technology, the implementation of the main functions and tasks in providing public education in the field of traffic becomes effective. Based on digital media, the implementation of community education can then cover wider targets with minimal deployment of resources or forces. Ironically, the number of traffic accidents in the Blitar Police jurisdiction is still very high every year. Throughout 2023 until September, there were 368 accidents which claimed 74 lives. The majority of traffic accident victims are in the productive age range, namely in the age range 16 to 30 years with student and employee or private professions. The driving safety education carried out by the Blitar Regency Police via social media Instagram still has minimal interest, where on average each new post is seen or watched less than 1,000 times. The public's response to the Blitar District Police's Instagram posts regarding driving safety education is still minimal, with each post receiving an average of less than 80 likes/likes and 60 comments, both positive and negative.
