A Efforts of the Turjawali Unit of the Samapta Unit in Preventing Theft Crimes in the Jurisdiction of the Kediri City Police

Abstract

This final assignment is motivated by the increasing incidence of motor vehicle theft in Kediri City from year to year. Therefore, this research aims to analyze and describe the factors that influence this problem as well as the efforts made by the Turjawali Task Force of the Kediri City Police Samapta Unit in preventing motor vehicle theft. It also seeks to understand the methods used by the author to analyze these efforts through POAC management theory and its elements (people, money, methods, materials). The concept used is crime prevention and patrol. This research was conducted using a qualitative approach and field research. The findings of this research indicate that the Turjawali Unit's efforts to prevent motor vehicle theft include patrol activities based on Perkabaharkam No.1 of 2017 concerning patrols. The research results reveal that the factors that influence the Turjawali Unit in preventing motor vehicle theft include human resources, finances, methods and facilities. The efforts made by the Turjawali Unit to prevent these crimes include planning, organizing through task schedules, implementation and control. In conclusion, the number of personnel from the Turjawali Unit of the Kediri City Police does not yet meet the standards stated in Police Regulation Number 2 of 2021. In addition, the efforts made by the Turjawali Unit to prevent motor vehicle theft are not fully in line with the planned and organized strategy. Patrol implementation, including route coverage and duty schedules, has not been fully adhered to. The author suggests that human resource development be in line with Perpol Number 2 of 2021, and patrol activities must follow Perkabaharkam Number 1 of 2017, by adhering to the plans, schedules and routes that have been determined to increase the effectiveness of preventing motor vehicle theft.
