Optimization of the Samapta Unit Patrol at Pasuruan Police in the Era of the Internet of Things to Prevent Motor Vehicle Theft

Abstract

The strategic geographical location of the Pasuruan area has given rise to various crimes, with vehicle theft being one of the most prominent. According to the main duties of the police as regulated in Law No. 2 of 2002 concerning the Police, the police are tasked with maintaining security and public order to ensure that all areas in Indonesia are free from any form of security disturbances. The Sat Samapta of Pasuruan Police has conducted patrol activities as a preventive measure. However, these patrols have proven to be still ineffective as evidenced by the high number of vehicle thefts in Pasuruan. Today, technological development is rapidly advancing. We have entered the era of the Internet of Things, where almost every aspect of life has utilized technological advancements to simplify work and activities in order to achieve objectives. Ideally, the Sat Samapta of Pasuruan Police should leverage this to enhance their patrol activities to be more optimal.
