Effectiveness of the Two-Wheeled Patrol Unit in Reducing Theft with Weights in the Jurisdiction Area of Gresik Police
Abstract
Gresik Regency has a variety of crime cases and one of the cases that has increased quite significantly is cases of aggravated theft. The Gresik Regency Legal District Police are taking preventive and pre-emptive measures to improve personnel performance in handling aggravated theft cases. This research aims to explain the general description of the implementation of the Samapta Units 2-wheeled patrols in reducing aggravated theft and What are the factors that influence the implementation of 2- wheeled patrols in reducing aggravated theft in the Gresik Police jurisdiction. This research uses the optimization concept, the Samapta concept, the Patrol Concept, and theft and weighting concepts. Meanwhile, the theories used are management theory and SWOT theory (Strength, Weakness, Opportunities and Threads). The approach in this research is a qualitative approach with the type of field research. The data sources used are primary data and secondary data. The informants in this research were the Head of Police, Head of Samapta Sat, KBO Samapta, Head of Patrol, Sat Samapta members, and the community. Data collection techniques in this research are interviews and observation. And the data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The implementation of the performance of the Gresik Police Samapta unit in handling the number of serious theft cases has not been effective because human resources are still not in accordance with the personnel composition list so that the quality of personnel is not evenly distributed. Another thing that is an obstacle is unsupportive facilities and infrastructure such as damage. However, the Gresik Police Samapta unit has made several efforts to keep its performance running, namely by collaborating with the local police in carrying out routine patrols and making reports regarding damaged facilities and infrastructure so that they can be reported and repaired
